Cavendish Primary School

Cavendish Curriculum

At Cavendish, we are dedicated to nurturing well-rounded individuals through our highly personalised curriculum. Each class has weekly timetable sessions which focus on protected characteristics, developing life skills relevant to our local community, fostering aspirations, preparing for the next stage in education and instilling British values. Our curriculum also aims to enhance our children’s cultural capital.

We place a strong emphasis on equity, diversity, and belonging, ensuring that every child feels valued and included. By celebrating differences and promoting inclusivity, we create a supportive environment where all students can thrive.

Our themes include:

· Being a Good Friend: Encouraging positive relationships and empathy.

· Celebrating Differences Within Families: Embracing diversity and understanding various family dynamics.

· Looking After My Body and Mind: Promoting physical and mental well-being.

· Keeping Myself Safe: Teaching safety awareness and self-protection.

· Becoming a Global Citizen: Cultivating a sense of global responsibility and awareness.

· Growing Up: Guiding children through the stages of development with confidence.

The Cavendish Curriculum is tailored to our local context, ensuring that each child develops strong character and is well-prepared for their future.

Ensuring Developmentally Appropriate Personal Development for Pupils with SEND
At Cavendish, it is essential that our Personal Development provision is not only tailored to meet the needs of the community we serve but of equal importance to the unique needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that the content and approaches are suitable for their individual developmental stages. We achieve this by carefully considering each pupil’s specific needs and abilities, and by adapting our offer to support their ongoing growth and learning. This ensures that every pupil receives appropriate opportunities for personal development, enabling them to thrive and progress at a pace that is right for them.
