Cavendish Primary School

Sports Premium

Sports Premium
The Sports Premium funding at Cavendish Primary Academy is part of the broader initiative supported by the Department for Education (DFE) sports grant. This grant aims to enhance the provision of physical education (PE), sport, and play for the benefit of pupils, helping them develop healthy lifestyles. The DFE sports grant supports schools in providing high-quality PE lessons, increasing participation in sports, and promoting physical and emotional well-being among students.
OPAL Primary Programme
We also invest in the OPAL primary programme, which has contributed significantly to children’s physical and emotional health, wellbeing, and inclusion for all pupils. The programme focuses on providing opportunities for active play and learning, ensuring that every child has the chance to participate and benefit from physical activities.
Sports Festivals with Sports UK
We take part in several sports festivals and run a range of after-school clubs to increase the uptake of sport alongside CPD for all teachers to ensure children have the very best PE lessons. These festivals include a variety of sports such as netball, multi-skills, football, hockey, cricket, and frisbee. Additionally, children have participated in lessons in traditional sports at local sports clubs, further enhancing their skills and engagement in physical activities.
